Carl has now released the R3 sources on Github https://github.com/rebol/r3

There's going to be a flurry of activity as people try to port to their favorite platforms ... and hopefully someone will step up to lead this project since Carl lacks the time. People have reported compiling the sources on OSX so far.Grahamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13157746164361910876noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28109466.post-61832030088207794182012-09-25T03:03:00.001-07:002012-09-25T03:05:09.207-07:00

This will be setup in that we get partial access to the necessary code parts and can work on these.
- We are going to extend our internal testing infrastructure etc on these new R3 releases and run it against our applications we crate
- Carl and I will have regular calls to discuss the status and things where we need his advise etc. So, to keep the loop closed and gain more speed
- I will meet with Carl in person on 23rd Juli to discuss further things
- Unitil that we want to get most administrative setup done, so that we are ready to go

We are going to drive the priorities by the things RMA needs. This shouldn't be a problem for anyone because if you are going to use R3 for serious development than you will need it as well.

The thing is, that we are not going to jump-start for every requested feature etc. We know there is a lot to do and we will work through it step-by-step. And, this is not because we don't care what you all state here. Definetly not. I want to move R3 forward as fast as possible. This needs concentration, focus and pushing to finally get it done. At the end of the day the only thing that counts is, if we make it to make R3 stable enough for prime time development.

So, stay tuned and I must say that this is the most promising development for a long time.

Let's see if Carl and RMA will make it to deliver on this. Which, still needs to be proofed but I'm not going to stop to push for it.

Some notes:
- We will have an NDA
- Carl didn't lost interest, he is full comitted to R3. His contract work is (still) / was very intense. Things get a bit more relaxed there now.

- I / RMA will be the main communication channel. I have access to Rebol-3 twitter and there exists a RMA twitter.- We will continue to work on the R3-GUI and release it as we did before (sometimes there might be longer periods of no-release, if we are doing massive changes)- The main focus will be: fixing bugs, defining and writing down how datatypes are handled WRT conversion, priority, sorting etc."

(Robert Muench)

-Nicolas

-Nicolashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11385224603248284129noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28109466.post-44802538713620169222011-05-29T13:22:00.001-07:002011-05-29T13:50:16.230-07:00Cht'i RUG 2011 in France
A Rebol and Red Users Group took place in Lille, north of France : Cht'i RUG 2011.

DocKimbel presenting Cheyenne REBOL web server

During this event DocKimbel has presented his REBOL Web server called Cheyenne.

And of course, his new project called Red : a new programming language.

-Nicolas

-Nicolashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11385224603248284129noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28109466.post-82521101443134781182011-03-06T09:01:00.000-08:002011-03-06T10:16:00.035-08:00ReBorCon 2011 : quick reportThe Rebol & Boron Conference took place in the Netherlands the 26th of february.

Official site :

http://reborcon.esperconsultancy.nl/

During the conference, the most important things was the announce of new project of DocKimbel : Red language creation.

More information about Red later.

Here comes the video :

Video of the Boron and OpenGL :

Video of the presentation of Cheyenne :

Video of the presentation of Cheyenne's RSP :

Video of the presentation of Red language :

-Nicolas-Nicolashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11385224603248284129noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28109466.post-19129653418540922512011-02-12T08:05:00.000-08:002011-03-06T09:00:35.508-08:00ReBorCon 2011REBOL & Boron Programming Language Conference

Date and Time
Saturday, 26 February 2011
11:00 - 16:00 hrs
Afterwards we will go for a drink and dinner in a local restaurant. We bought a 180" screen for $166 and use an inexpensive projector to handle the whole event: http://www.rebol.org/view-script.r?script=bingo.r

For her day job, Corina manages Human Resources for 15 BJ's stores, and this week began using her Jeopardy program at http://www.rebol.org/view-script.r?script=jeopardy.r to run training sessions in a fun way - the employees and her field support managers love it!

REBOL runs so many business operations in and around my life, and the solutions have always been so quick and easy to create :) Please feel free to share your stories about REBOL in corporate America (and elsewhere) too!

posted by: Nick 12-Jan-2011/16:44:14-8:00

From Nick's forum

-Nicolas-Nicolashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11385224603248284129noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28109466.post-21785523468015098502011-01-15T02:10:00.000-08:002011-03-06T09:01:18.603-08:00Period ending 14-jan-2011

Most influencing programmers
Our Carl, Carl Sassenrath, creator of REBOL is rank 13 of "Most influencing programmers"

http://www.hyenalabs.com/?p=717

The creators or main contributors of PERL, Visal Basic, C++ and even Python are behind Carl !

Facebook Hacker Cup 2011
Message from REBOL Facebook group, Maximiliano

Dear Rebels,

During these days there is the Facebook Hacker Cup 2011, and Rebol isn't in the possible programming language admitted.
Why don't you show that Rebol is an excellent language?
